When it comes to ink replenishment, the print industry is really moving with the times and benefiting from the rise in online purchases made via mobile phone and tablet devices. This was perfectly illustrated recently when FindMySupplies.co.uk, the leading supplier of Original HP ink and toner supplies, became the first online retailer in the UK to provide a highly innovative APP to its customers called HP SureSupply Express.
Designed to be the fastest way to order Original HP ink and toner supplies, the HP SureSupply Express APP enables users to monitor consumption and replenish stocks of Original HP ink and toner cartridges as required.
Way beyond just the print industry, online retailing via mobile phones and tablet computers continues to grow in popularity at a rate of knots.
Impact of hand-held technology and click-and-collect
Earlier this year, figures from e-tail industry body IMRG declared that mobile phones and tablet computers are used for nearly 6% of all retail sales. And according to industry experts, that figure seems only likely to increase further with the adoption of hand-held technology and the development of click-and-collect services.
The significant potential to increase further the number of transactions made via mobile phones and tablets is borne out in our own survey which has revealed that only a quarter (26%) of respondents asked said that they frequently use such devices to make online purchases at present.
Our own poll also reveals that more than half of people asked, (53%) said they either never, or only rarely use their phone or tablet to make purchases online.
Complimenting wifi printing technology
These figures tend to suggest that, for many consumers, there is a perceived lack of trust, confidence or perceived value in making transactions using these devices compared to laptop or desktop devices. This is something that the HP SureSupply Express certainly looks to address. In the printing industry, the ability to accurately assess ink levels via wifi printing technology enables users to monitor consumption and replenish stocks of ink and toner cartridges as required.
So it appears the printing industry is making some significant strides via smart phone APP’s to add value to end users taking advantage of the latest advances in both printer and smart phone technology at a time when purchases of ink cartridges online are increasing.
In our recent poll, more than a third of those asked (40%) said they would buy a printer ink cartridge from an online retailer whilst only just over one in ten of those asked, (13%) said they would buy a printer ink cartridge from a High Street shop.
